Smith County Master Gardener Library Series begins Jan. 12

The Smith County Master Gardeners are again partnering with the Tyler Public Library to offer its speaker series in 2018. Focused on relevant gardening topics for Smith County and the surrounding area, the series of presentations, titled “Master Gardeners at the Library,” will begin with an 11:30 a.m. program on Jan. 12 in the library’s Taylor Auditorium, 201 S. College Ave.

The first speaker, Dee Bishop, will present “Make No Mistakes: Gardening Mistakes and What Not to Do.”

Subsequent presentations will be held at 11:30 a.m. on selected Fridays. Speakers and topics include “Texas Tough! The History of the Texas Superstar Plant Program,” with Greg Grant, Smith County horticulture agent, Feb. 9; “Raised Bed Gardening on a Hillside,” with Wayne Elliott, March 19; “Pass-along Plants,” with Andie Rathbone, April 13; and “Sex in the Garden … All about Propagation” with plant propagation specialist Debby Watkins May 11.
