Kid's Crusade, food drive among upcoming faith-based events

Shady Grove Baptist Church, 12480 Farm-to-Market Road 14, in Tyler invitesthe public to its Annual Revival at 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.The Rev. Nelson Gatlin, pastor of Mitchell Chapel COGIC in Sulphur Springs, is the scheduled guest speaker for Monday and Tuesday. The Rev. D.J. Nelson, pastor of Friendship Baptist Churchin Longview, is the scheduled guest speaker for Wednesday to Friday.



Christ Community Church, 5625 N. Loop 256 in Palestine, will have a Kid’s Crusade for children ages 4 and up June 23-25. Youth and adults are welcome to attend. There is no registration fee, but an offering will be received in each service. Pastor Mike Muzzerall and team from Brother Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, are scheduled to speak. Service times include: 6:30 p.m. June 23; 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. June 24; and 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. June 25. New Days Community Church, 901 N. Broadway Ave., will put on a citywide food drive to benefit the PATH Food Pantry from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 24. Community members are urged to help fight hunger by bringing nonperishable food or financial donations to the church’s parking lot during the event.



The Grace Fellowship Church of Flint is planning a “One Nation Under God” rally from 3 to 5 p.m. June 25 at the T.B. Butler Fountain Plaza in downtown Tyler. Holly Brook Baptist Church, 3219 S. Farm-to-Market Road 2869, in Hawkins will focus on the stars as students become “Galactic Starveyors” during this summer’s Vacation Bible School. The annual Bible study is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon June 26 to 30. Children through sixth grade are welcome. Evangelist Madeline Kennedy is the scheduled guest speaker and Sister JuWanda Allen will serve as the featured guest psalmist. Camp Out VBS at Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church, 417 County Road 1143 in Tyler, is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 29. Lunch will be provided. The day will include team-building games, Bible-based songs, and multisensory Bible adventures. Some of the activities might be a bit messy so children should come in play clothes and sturdy shoes. Parents, grandparents, and friends are invited to join at 10 a.m.July 30 for a dramatic, campfire-style celebration of God’s love.
