Best Chocolate Dessert in East Texas Contest is set for Saturday at Glass center

The Twelfth Annual Best Chocolate Dessert in East Texas Contest is scheduled for Saturday at the Glass Recreation Center, 501 W. 32nd St. Entries will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The event has divisions of Youth up to age 17 and Adult for those 18 and older. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three in each division.

Entry fee is $2, and entry forms are available at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Smith County, and will be available at the Glass center on contest day.

Also Saturday, a free, informative food demonstration class will be offered to the public and contestants, beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free, however a generous donation of purchased, individually wrapped snack items will benefit the youth at the Glass Center.

Door prizes will be given away and tickets may be purchased for items that will be in a drawing. Contest winners will be announced at the conclusion of judging.

Event hosts are the Smith County Extension Education Association and the Tyler Parks and Recreation Department.
