An fire damaged a garage in Hawkins early Wednesday morning.

About 1:30 a.m. a garage was reported to be on fire in the 300 block of West Blackbourn St.

Fire fighters from the Hawkins, Holly Lake and Hainesville Volunteer Fire Departments arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.

Hawkins Volunteer Fire Department Chief Stephens Holmes said the garage sustained major damage, but crews were able to suppress the fire with only minor damage to a small section of the roof of the home.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Nobody was injured in the incident.

"We were able to save the home and no personal items in the house were lost during the fire," Chief Holmes said. "The advanced technology of the compressed air foam system that the Hawkins Volunteer Fire Department has allowed us to save the home and use only about 1200 gallons of water as opposed to 8,000 gallons without the system."
