Chu’Zu Music and Yesterday’s Tomorrow presented the first Charity Summer Slam Jam on Friday at the Glass Recreation Center.

The event featured music, a 3-point shootout and a basketball game that included a variety of musical artists, entertainers and professionals.

A portion of the proceeds raised at the event will go to the North Tyler Developmental Academy, a nursery that provides care and learning experiences to preschool-age children.

“The purpose of the event is unity, education, fun and to bring everyone together,” Marlondos Fields, founder of Yesterday’s Tomorrow, said.  “Also to educate people about Juneteenth.”

He added that he hoped attendees would leave with a greater sense of purpose and a desire to do more in the community.
