Cherokee County Master Gardeners’ eighth annual Scarecrow Trail will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Ruth B. Nichols Arboretum, 1015 Loop 456 in Jacksonville. The event will run through Oct. 26, according to information from the group.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day; it will be closed on Sundays.

Students submitted scarecrows for the trail. Saturday’s activities will include entertainment, face painting, food, pumpkins, hobbit houses and the scarecrow display.

The event is a fundraiser for Helping Others Pursue Enrichment (HOPE), and visitors are asked to donate non-perishable food items or $1 per person to support that nonprofit organization.
