A 17-year-old Big Sandy woman is dead after a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday in Upshur County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the wreck shortly after 12:30 p.m. to a wreck on Texas Highway 155, almost 4 miles south of Gilmer.

A preliminary crash investigation revealed Cherish Elaine Kelley, 17, of Big Sandy, was the driver of a 2006 Toyota 4Runner that was traveling north on Highway 155.

Jessica Leann Reed, 31, of Lonestar was traveling south in a 2002 Chevrolet tow truck on Highway 155.

Kelley lost control of the Toyota on the wet roadway and spun around backwards into the southbound lanes.

The front of the tow truck struck the back of the Toyota causing it to spin around and go off the west side of the road where it came to a stop facing east. The tow truck slid sideways and came to rest on the shoulder facing west.

Kelley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reed was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview in stable condition.

The crash remained under investigation.
