Smith County Sheriff's Office K9 Joker is getting a new bullet and stab protective vest

Smith County Sheriff’s Office K9 Joker is getting a new bullet and stab protective vest.

Joker's vest was sponsored by an anonymous donation through Vested Interest in K9s Inc.

The vest will be embroidered with the words “this gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”.

Joker's vest will be delivered in about eight to 10 weeks.

The vest weighs about 5 pounds and has a five-year warranty.

Vested Interest in K9s Inc. is a nonprofit organization located in East Taunton, Massachusetts. The organization's mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the U.S.

Since its inception in 2009, the organization has provided over 2,700 protective vests, in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a cost of over $2.3 million.

There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.
