The Tyler Public Library is a designated voting place for the Texas Bluebonnet Award.

Each year the Texas Library Association’s Texas Bluebonnet Award committee selects 20 titles for the award, according to a city of Tyler news release.

The list includes picture books, chapter books and nonfiction books.

In order for children to vote they must have read five of the books on the current list and be in grades three through six to vote. Voting began Jan. 3 and ends Jan. 30.

“I feel this is the best children’s book award out there, since only children can vote,” Youth Services Librarian Linda Gray said. “The list is a great selection of current titles, and we have them as books, along with selections in our OverDrive electronic library.”

Information packets about the book list and the voting process are available at the library to pick up, according to the news release. This packet includes the list of titles with book and electronic formats available, as well as information about the program, and a postcard.

For more information about the program, and other Library activities call 903-593-7323. The Tyler Public Library is located at 201 S. College Ave. in downtown Tyler.
